Tile adhesive

Grout

Trowel

Grout float

Sponge

Tape measure

Level

Pencil

Utility knife

Preparation

1. Measure and Cut the Trim: Measure the length of the tile edge where you’ll be installing the trim. Cut the trim to the desired length using a utility knife.

2. Apply Tile Adhesive: Apply a thin layer of tile adhesive to the back of the trim using a trowel. Ensure that the adhesive is evenly distributed.

Installation

1. Position the Trim: Carefully position the trim along the edge of the tiles. Use a level to ensure it is level and straight.

2. Press into Place: Once positioned, gently press the trim into place. Use moderate pressure to secure it to the adhesive.

3. Remove Excess Adhesive: Wipe away any excess adhesive that may have squeezed out using a sponge or damp cloth.

Grouting

1. Mix Grout: Mix the grout according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Grout should have a consistency similar to peanut butter.

2. Apply Grout: Fill the space between the trim and the tiles with grout using a grout float. Press the grout into the joints to ensure it is fully packed.

3. Remove Excess Grout: After letting the grout set for a few minutes, wipe away excess grout using a damp sponge. Clean the grout from the face of the trim as well.

Finishing Touches

1. Seal Grout: Allow the grout to fully cure according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Seal the grout using a grout sealer to protect it from moisture and stains.

2. Clean Up: Clean up any remaining adhesive or grout residue from the trim and surrounding area. Use a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution.

Tips for Success

Use a sharp utility knife for clean cuts.

Apply just enough adhesive to hold the trim in place. Too much adhesive can make it difficult to remove excess.

Allow the adhesive to set for a few minutes before pressing the trim into place. This will ensure a strong bond.

Grout the joints thoroughly to prevent moisture from entering behind the trim.

Use a soft cloth to wipe away excess grout. Abrasive materials can scratch the surface of the trim.

Seal the grout as soon as it has cured to protect it from moisture and stains.
